JSOCMS SUMMER STRINGS PROGRAM - 2011
The JSOCMS Summer Strings Program provides the opportunity for string students of all levels of experience to receive focused instruction on their instruments from professional musicians and music educators. The program consists of four classes, which are designed to address the specific needs of students ranging from beginning to advanced levels.
Cadet Class
The Cadet class is designed for students who have studied a string instrument for less than one year. This class focuses on the reinforcement and expansion of fundamental techniques. This class also includes a Music Theory component, which focuses on the establishment of fundamental musical knowledge and music reading skills.
Allegretto Class
The Allegretto class is designed for intermediate students who have studied their string instrument privately for more than one year. This class focuses on the reinforcement of fundamental techniques and an introduction to more advanced techniques. This class also includes a Music Theory component, focusing on the advancement of musical knowledge and music reading skills.
Vivace Class
The Vivace class is designed for advanced students. Students will receive instruction in the performance of appropriate literature for chamber ensemble (trios, quartets, etc.) and string ensemble. This class also includes a Music Theory component, focusing on advanced musical knowledge and music reading skills which are appropriate for this level of student.

2011 PROGRAM SCHEDULE
All 2011 Summer Strings programs will begin Monday, June 13, and end on
Friday, June 24. The final day will conclude with an afternoon recital. Classes meet daily, Monday-Friday, at the Jackson Symphony Building (215 W. Michigan Ave.).

TUITION*
Cadet Class: $150.00
Allegretto Class: $150.00
Vivace Class: $250.00
(*Tuition includes all Instrumental Sessions, as well as all Music Theory Sessions for the Cadet, Allegretto, and Vivace classes.)
Please note that class offerings are subject to minimum enrollment levels.
