Private Instruction
While still a high school student, Amy Hamburg was a pupil of Julian Martin at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. She then earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Kansas where she studied piano with Carole Ross and accompanying with LeeAnn Hilmer. Ms. Hamburg continued with her graduate studies in music theory and piano performance at the University of Michigan where she studied with Lynn Bartholomew. Ms. Hamburg taught undergraduate music theory at the University of Michigan and at Eastern Michigan University. Amy performs in the Jackson area, and she is also a minister of music at the Federated Church in Grass Lake. In addition to her piano and choral activities, Ms. Hamburg is a carilloneur and has performed on the carillons at the University of Kansas, the University of Michigan, and the Memorial Carillon in Frederick, Maryland. Amy is married to Dr. Andrew Mead, a composer and theorist at the University of Michigan. They have four children ages 12-29.
