Guild
Letter from the President
The excellence of the Jackson Symphony Guild continues for the 2008-2009 season, ever evolving since its conception in 1949 when the Guild was known as “Jackson Symphony Orchestra Women’s Division.” The organization has grown from about a dozen women to a group which now numbers well over 200.
The Guild is constantly vying for time, talent, and support from our members. We are a working Board offering several projects, such as the “Holiday Ball” and “Jazz Night.” We offered the “Family Concert and Music Fair” for ten years, educating youngsters and their families in the science of music and offering a symphony experience.
The Guild shares the excitement of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra’s “Sound Vision” Capital Campaign. This year will be a time of growth and new beginnings for the JSO. We look forward to the development of the JSO Hand-on Minds-on Music Learning Center as a part of the JSO Performing Arts and Education Center which will continue the ground work laid by the Guild through the “Family Concert and Music Fair” and create a new avenue of involvement for our members.
Music and the Arts are a unifying universal form of communication we must keep alive and ongoing in a civilized world. Our gift will be to pass it on to future generations.
Nancy Kyro, President
