A Message from the Chairman

Frederick L. Davies, Chairman
JSO Board of Directors
April 29, 2000

Thank you for your support of the JSO 50th anniversary season!  Our milestone season draws to an end this evening with our fifth and final concert in the 50th anniversary subscription season. This has been a memorable season that has showcased the vibrant history and promising future of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra. Last evening we had the privilege of sharing this history with over one hundred attendees at the Country Club of Jackson. Among the highlights of this evening were the tables of memorabilia and the recognition of individuals that have and continue to play a significant role in our successful journey.  Tonight we celebrate with songs as timeless as the art form of music. I hope that you will enjoy this presentation led by nationally renown singers from the Broadway stage as well as our own Melissa Osmond and Parri Sontag. The JSO is truly a regional gem with a national quality! Something each one of us can be proud of.

As for the future ... we begin our next half century with a subscription season of Great Music and Great Musicians. We also continue our commitment to innovative and effective community outreach and education programs through the JSO Community Music School, musical field trips, an all new Pops in the Park, and the return of The Nutcracker Ballet during the Holiday Season.

It takes a community of dedicated individuals from all walks of life to sustain, nurture, and support the Arts. We hope you will continue your support of The Jackson Symphony Orchestra as a season ticket holder and if possible a contributor to our annual fund. Tables are set up in the lobby and I encourage you to renew tonight if you haven't done so. Again, thank you for your support and enjoy the concert!
