Jackson Symphony Orchestra

Meet Our Musicians: Diane (Martin) Johncock

Diane (Martin) Johncock
has played in the 2nd violin section of JSO for 35 years.
Diane started playing violin in the  fifth grade through the String Program at the Waterford Township Public Schools. In High School she began private violin lessons with Alonzo Seaboldt at Pontiac Nothern H.S.
At Olivet College, pursuing double majors in Music and English with Teacher Certification, she was blessed to have Dr. Phillip Mason as her first violin instructor.
After graduating from Olivet College in 1976, she began teaching at Olivet Community Schools and joined the JSO.   Thirty five years later she is still teaching (music) at Olivet Schools and still playing in the Jackson Symphony Orchestra. She remembers JSO rehearsals at the old Frost Junior High and is very appreciative of the growth and present skill level of the Orchestra under Maestro Osmond's leadership.
