Meet Our Musicians: Lauren Hansen

Lauren Hansen has enjoyed playing violin and viola
with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra since 2001.

Ms. Hansen received her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and her Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan. During this time she studied violin and viola performance and pedagogy with such teachers as Dr. Lyman Bodman, Dr. Alan Bodman and Dr. Walter Verdehr, as well as chamber music performance with Dr. Louis Potter. She is certified in Suzuki violin training.

Ms. Hansen has maintained a private violin and viola teaching studio in the area for over a decade. She is also an instructor of violin at the Michigan State University Community Music School.  In addition to her private lessons, she regularly serves as substitute conductor and sectional coach for the Okemos, East Lansing and
Mid Michigan Youth Symphony orchestras.

Since 2001, Ms. Hansen has been a contract violinist with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the West Michigan Symphony and Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestras. She was featured in the April 2010 edition of the
Lansing Noise Magazine.
