During his world travels the Professor has been involved in musical performances in Florence, Paris, New York, Cincinnati, Los Angeles and Jackson. Including the premier of the Celebration Symphony composed in collaboration with his good friend Professor Bruce Brown. Professor von Forte plays many instruments; he especially loves percussion. He is currently teaching music at every opportunity and is dedicated to a lifelong pursuit of bringing music and fun to the young and the young at heart.

Professor von Forte’s other personality John Piper has been a close friend of the JSO’s for over a decade. Until last month when John accepted the position of VP of Special Events (including the big one – Thanksgiving Day Parade) with the Macy corporation he was Director of Theatre Services at Jackson Community College. In that capacity he not only technically produced and lighted our concerts, he also found himself on stage playing in the percussion section or conducting the orchestra, not only as Felix but also as Captain Hook. John’s interest in Hot Air not only include being the principal director of the Thanksgiving Parade he is also an avid balloonist who was very active in the development of Jackson Hot Air Jubilee
