2008 - 2009 Subscription Concert Series

Stephen Osmond, Music Director - 215 W. Michigan Ave. Jackson, MI 49201 - (517)782-3221

For its 59th season the JSO has planned a series of 5 concerts to enlighten, engage and entertain its wonderful and loyal audience. Masterpieces of the past including Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony, Schumann’s Spring Symphony, Dvorak’s Symphony #8 will be mixed with soon-to-be favorites of the future: Carl Vine’s Piano Concerto and our own Bruce Brown’s Quixote.

Terrific talent! Members of the orchestra, whom you hear month after month, play with expression, passion and amazing technique. Soloists include internationally acclaimed pianist Christopher Taylor, Jackson’s own Clyde McKaney, violinist Ioana Galu, pianist Brad Blackham and ABC Evening News’ “person of the year” Pastor Patrinell “Pat” Wright. Joining Maestro Osmond on the podium will be Jackson favorite Louis Magor, bringing you a special Valentine on February 14, 2009 and assistant conductor Nathaniel Parker presenting an all Russian night with the Firebird Suite of Stravinsky.

Keeping with our tradition of trying new approaches to engage the audience, one concert will involve fracturing the orchestra and reassembling.

All this and the terrific benefits of being a season ticket holder: 20% discount on each ticket, Backstage Glimpses, Meal Card and Film Series. Not to mention that you are supporting one of Jackson’s leading cultural assets.
