Assistant Conductor

Jackson Symphony Orchestra

Brent Cryderman is in his third year as assistant conductor. In addition to conducting on subscription concerts, he has conducted matinee performances of the Nutcracker ballet, the Summer POPS and Family Concerts. He also performs regularly as a member of the trombone section.

During the day, Brent works Jackson High School where he serves as Music Department chairman. He conducts the Symphony and Varsity Bands, the Orchestra and team-teaches the freshman Cadet Band. He is in his eleventh year of teaching during which his bands and orchestras have continually delivered quality performances in concert and festivals. In 1990, he was recognized with the Jackson Public Schools Outstanding Educator Award.

Brent remains active in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association as adjudicator of low brass solos and ensembles and band and orchestra festivals. He has been a frequent conductor of the MSBOA District VIII Junior High Honors Band. He was recently nominated by his peers to be a member of the American School Band Director’s Association.

Brent enjoys the opportunities Jackson offers his wife Joann and daughters, Chloe, Tessa and Brooklyn.
