Horn - Soloist

Bryan Kennedy, a two-time prize winner at the Heldenleben International Horn Competition, has been professor of horn at the University of Michigan School of Music since 1995. He also plays with the Summit Brass, America's premiere large brass ensemble. Bryan was a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra from 1982-1995, and before that was principal horn of the National Symphony of Costa Rica, the Michigan Opera Theatre, and the Richmond Symphony. He has been hornist and frequent soloist with the Detroit Chamber Winds since 1982 and is also the hornist with the Premier Brass Quintet. He has recorded on the London, RCA, Chandos. and Koch labels and recently finished recording the Hindemith Sonata in F. His summer activities include the Grand Teton Festival, Sunflower, and Bellingham (WA) music festivals, where he is principal horn of the American Sinfonietta. Bryan continues to concertize and give master classes throughout the United States and Europe. He graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, where he studied Louis Stout.
