David Peshlakai 

Cello Soloist

David Peshlakai was born and raised in Mount Clemens, Michigan. He started his cello training through the pubic schools and didn't start private lessons until age sixteen. David entered Michigan State University as a computer science engineer. It wasn't until his third year at MSU that he switched to music. Since that time, he has earned his Bachelor Degree of Music at MSU and Master of Music at U of M, studying with Owen Carmen and Erling Bengtsson, respectively.  Mr. Peshlakai is principal cellist of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, where he has been a member since 1987. He is also principal cellist with the Battle Creek and Lansing Symphonies and plays as a member of the section

with the Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids Symphonies. Mr. Peshlakai has soloed with the Battle Creek Symphony, MSU Symphonies. MSU Chamber Orchestra, and the Jackson Symphony.

Along with an extensive playing schedule, Mr. Peshlakai teaches throughout Michigan, including Albion and Hillsdale Colleges. His students have gone on to win scholarship positions with universities in Michigan and Ohio.
