Lisa Waits

Violin Soloist

Lisa Waits, a Jackson native, began studying the violin at the age of six with the late Beatrice Baker Thorpe and became a student of Philip Mason at Albion College at the age of ten. She has appeared as a soloist in a number of venues including New York, Wisconsin, Michigan and California. A graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy, Ms. Waits was the concertmaster of the World Youth Symphony and a winner of a number of competitions throughout her teens. Among other appearances, Ms. Waits has played with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at Meadowbrook, Natalie Cole on her "Unforgettable" tour, the Michigan Symphonietta, the Michigan Chamber Orchestra, the Flint Symphony Orchestra, the Saginaw Symphony Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller's "From Russia with Love" tour and the Manhattan Transfer. She played with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra for thirteen years, serving most recently as associate concertmaster during the 1999-2000 season. Ms. Waits also served on the JSO Board for a number of years prior to moving to Silicon Valley.

Ms. Waits is now a practicing attorney with the international law firm of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP. She lives in Palo Alto, California with her husband, Robert Sears, and daughter, Emmeline.
