Richard Fracker

Tenor - Soloist

March 20, 1999

From Michigan Center to Lincoln Center and far beyond tenor Richard Fracker enjoys a dynamic career as an opera and oratorio singer. He has sung throughout he world in all the major capitols of Europe, Asia and, of course, America featured in repertoire ranging from Bach to Beethoven to Puccini to Philip Glass. It is appropriate that he would be featured as soloist this season with the JSO - our 20th Century Adventure - as he has performed a great deal of modern music, most recently last month at the Metropolitan Opera in a leading role in Arnold Schoenberg's Moses and Aaron.

His Met debut was in 1989 in Il Trittico, followed by performances of Rigoletto, Traviata and Turandot as part of their "Met in the Parks" series. Other operas include: Die Meistersinger Un Ballo in Maschera, Philip Glasses' The Voyage, Albert Herring, Street Scene A Little Night Music and Amahl and the Night Visitors. In addition to the Metropolitan opera companies have included Atlanta Opera, Chautauqua Festival, Orlando Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, Long Beach Opera, Spoletto Festival and others too numerous to mention.

Richard holds four degrees from the university of Michigan where he was the lead in the Robert Altman production of Stravinksy's The Rakes Progress and was an international finalist in the 1985 Pavarotti Competition.

We are delighted to welcome Richard home for his second of what we hope will be many appearances with the JSO.
