Our Concert Program is entitled “Homage” and explores how many famous composers paid tribute to composers they admired. Repertoire includes music by Ravel, Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky (his tribute to Mozart). Being Valentine's Eve it seems appropriate to feature one of the most romantic pieces ever written: Mozart's Piano Concerto #21 in C major featured in the 1967 film Elvira Madigan. The concerto has been the musical backdrop for many well known films including: The Happening (2008), Superman Returns (2006), Virtual Sexuality (1999) and Regarding Henry (1991). Beginning with Blue Angel in 1930, the music of Mozart has been featured in more than 526 films.

Sushi at the Symphony: Relax after the concert and enjoy sushi by master chefs from AKA Sushi, music by Big Foot, Bob Schultz, and a premier showing of Nancy Schaff's new works, "A Walk in Nature," in the JSO’s own Weatherwax Hall – 215 W. Michigan Ave. – Downtown Jackson.
