With music of today from film to rock bands, surrounding a wealth of classic masterpieces and world-class soloists, our 62nd season promises to be the most innovative and exciting ever!

2011

Great Movies/Grand Pianos - October 8

Rich Ridenour brings his Hollywood favorites to you from great film scores of Nelson Riddle and John Willimas, to grand piano-movie moments such as the theme from Exodus and the Warsaw Concerto from Dangerous Moonlight.

Romantic Spectacular - November 12

Arthur Greene returns for his fourth appearance bringing with him the majestic Piano Concerto #2 of Brahms. Tchaikovsky is synonymous with Romanticism and nowhere more than in his Fifth Symphony.

2012

Let's Dance - February 4

Probably the most popular classical selection of the last quarter of the 20th Century is John Adams' Chairman Dances from his opera "Nixon in China." The minimalist composer has created an engaging work which is currently being presented at the Metropolitan Opera. Beethoven's Symphony #7, referred to by Richard Wagner as the "apotheosis of the dance," will also be on the program.

Out of This World - March 17

Join us on a Galactic and Astrological Journey with Gustav Holst's The Planets including awe-inspiring images of the seven featured planets and Beethoven's Violin Concerto with soloist Xie Min.

Original - May 5

The cello/guitar team Viktor Uzur and Brad Richter return to Jackson to perform the World Premier of the first work ever for cello, guitar and orchestra. Referred to as a "mash-up," the piece combines classical, folk, and rock influences including Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd and Radiohead, with funk beats such as Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters. The Richter Uzur Duo appeals to a broad variety of audiences and is a favorite of NPR's "Performance Toay." Hindemith's 20th-Century masterpiece, Symphonic Metamorphosis, will also be on the program.

All concerts for this series will be held at 7:30 PM at Jackson Community College's world-class Music Hall.
