Sunny Wilkinson to headline Guild’s 13th jazz event
The Jackson Symphony Guild’s 13th Annual Night of Jazz and Blues will headline entertainer Sunny Wilkinson, a jazz artist said to be “one of the most inventive and flexible singers of her generation.”
“Sunny is a mischievous vocal stylist who loves to toy with rhythm and tonal color,” one Internet site says. “Her wide range, marvelous intonation, effortless agility and passion for what she sings make her a one-of-a-kind artist.”
This 13th annual JSG jazz event will be held
from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Feb. 17
in the Rose Room at Daryl's Downtown restaurant in Jackson.
“Jazz night 2012 will provide our guests with top entertainment in a night club atmosphere,” said Co-chair Ken Baxter. “Save the date of February 17th to join us at Daryl's, you won't be sorry. Door prizes will be awarded as our thank you to our guests.”
A variety of admission packages are available.
All guests will receive a hors d’oeuvres buffet included in ticket price.
Tickets for general seating are $40 in advance or $45 at the door.
Tables for eight guests are as follows: Corporate sponsorships are $650.
This includes name recognition in all media news releases and a variety of promotional ads, recognition at the event and a reserved table.
Corporate tables are $400 for a reserved table and company recognition at the event.
A reserved table for eight, with names of guests, is $350.

Biography
Sunny Wilkinson has taken her place in that elite group of jazz vocalists who have stretched the boundaries and found themselves "one of a kind." Her performance credits are impressive. She’s sung with The Count Basie Band, Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass, Clark Terry, Mark Murphy, Milt Hinton, Curtis Fuller, and Edgar Winter, among others.
Wilkinson’s latest CD release is a duo project featuring Los Angeles based pianist Tom Garvin entitled A Gentle Time – When Sunny Meets Tom. Her other CDs are High Wire, Alegria and Sunny Wilkinson.
Wilkinson performs regularly at jazz festivals and clubs across the country and is assistant professor of jazz voice at Michigan State.
She is the Past President of the Michigan chapter of the International Association of Jazz Educators and the past chair for IAJE’s Women’s Caucus. She is the co-founder of IAJE's Sisters in Jazz mentoring program.
