Enjoy music from The Beatles during this evening performance with a string quartet from the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, all in the cozy glow of candlelight. Hosted at the Jackson County Tower Ballroom, this special event, in collaboration with the Jackson County Fair, promises a blend of rock and classical elegance for a memorable musical experience.

David Stachyra
Violin

Dan Stachyra has performed in the violin section of the Detroit Opera since 2007, where he is serving as Interim Concertmaster for the 24-25 season. He also plays in the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and has been a guest at the Toledo, Grand Rapids, Ft. Wayne and Memphis Symphonies.

During five seasons with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, he was a member of the Sturgis String Quartet, which made hundreds of appearances at schools, community venues and concert halls. He received degrees in music and biology from Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he studied with Gregory Fulkerson. Further training at the New World Symphony in Miami Beach and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago included working with conductors Daniel Barenboim, Michael Tilson Thomas and musicians from leading American and European orchestras.

Dan has performed frequently at the Detroit Jazz Festival, in the pit orchestra of Broadway touring shows, and on numerous recordings. He has had the privilege of sharing the stage with a wide range of artists, from Yo-Yo Ma to Aretha Franklin, Itzhak Perlman, Pat Metheny, Renée Fleming, Joshua Redman, and Earth Wind & Fire.

Mallory Tabb
Violin

Mallory Tabb is thrilled to serve as Quartet Manager for her second season with the JSO’s Concerts Aglow series. Originally from the Chicago area, she has worked in Michigan as a music educator and freelance performer since 2013. A student of psychology and music business as well as violin, viola, and piano performance, she holds degrees from the University of Michigan and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She has also completed advanced studies in music at Jacksonville University and Carnegie Mellon University and studied with professors from the Juilliard School, Oberlin Conservatory, Rice University, Florida State University, and the Eastman School of Music.

Currently the Assistant Concertmaster of the Ann Arbor Symphony and a member of the Jackson Symphony since 2014, Mallory has served in principal positions and appeared as guest concertmaster and featured soloist with many orchestras throughout the US. In recent years, she has performed most often with the Detroit Opera, the Toledo Symphony, and the Ann Arbor Symphony.

Mallory is the owner and founder of Elevation Harmony, a private music studio in Ann Arbor that specializes in a holistic music education, adapting learning plans to students’ unique needs, interests, and learning styles. Mallory is trained in the Suzuki Method, is a certified Violin Technique Method Coach, and has extensive training in Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Outside of her private studio, she has experience teaching for a wide variety of music schools throughout the US including five years serving as Junior Division Coordinator for the University of Michigan String Preparatory Academy.

Mallory lives in Ann Arbor with her dogs, Dobby and Luna. When she is not teaching or performing, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and learning more about the fascinating complexities of the human experience.

David Ormai
Viola

David Ormai is an active performer and teacher in Michigan. As a freelance violinist, he currently performs all throughout southeast Michigan and regularly performs with the Ann Arbor Symphony and the Detroit Opera. As a dedicated teacher, David maintains a private studio of over 30 students in Ann Arbor. He holds a Bachelors degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan.

David Peshlakai
Cello

David Peshlakai was born and educated in Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Music from Michigan State University and his Master of Music from the University of Michigan. Mr. Peshlakai was Principal Cellist with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra from 2004 to 2017 where he held the Diether Haenicke Principal Cello Chair.

Mr. Peshlakai is also in great demand as an extra cellist with several regional orchestras throughout Michigan, including performing as principal cellist with the Battle Creek, Flint, Jackson, and Lansing Symphonies.

He has performed in many chamber recitals and festivals throughout Michigan and the Midwest. His coaches have included members of the Juilliard, Alban Berg, Concord, Vermeer, Emerson, Muir, and Kronos String Quartets.

Mr. Peshlakai has been teaching cello at Hillsdale College since 1992. In 2010 he was invited to teach at Kalamazoo College as well. He previously taught at Albion and Alma Colleges and Grand Valley State University.
