WHAT YOUR SUPPORT PROVIDES
While ticket sales are vital for the Jackson Symphony Orchestra the reality is they cover only a portion of the cost of presenting a concert. In addition to world class live music performances, the funding we receive from you, our supporters, allows us to offer a variety of musical experiences for the Jackson region, including:
MUSIC EDUCATION
String Team: Our Community Music School offers group violin lessons to elementary students throughout Jackson County.
Jackson Youth Symphony Orchestra: The JYSO is made up of student-musicians from across Southern Michigan.
Early Education Classes: Young children receive many benefits from early music education programs including improved motor skills, help with focus and memory, and support in language development.
Private Lessons: We offer one-on-one instruction on band and orchestra instruments, voice, piano, and guitar. Your gift helps provide tuition assistance for students in need.
SPECIAL EVENTS
A Musical Look at Cooperation and Communication: The orchestra performs a free concert for 3rd and 4th grade students that introduces the instruments of the orchestra, while also teaching valuable social skills.
Family Pops Concerts: These performances bring a completely different experience and feature popular classical music and film scores that encourage exposure to classical music in a manner that is familiar to adults and children alike.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Bach’s Lunch Series: Providing performance opportunities for our music school students and teachers, this event provides music for the community during lunchtime. Community members can bring their own lunch, purchase food on site, or enjoy free refreshments while listening to musical performances. Not only does this create more cultural opportunities in Jackson, it build confidence in our budding musicians.
Community Strings Ensemble: Members of the community who play a stringed instrument are welcomed to come play in an ensemble at the JSO. They meet every other Monday, and perform two free concerts a year. If you’re interested in learning more or joining Community Strings contact our box office via (517) 782-3221 or info@jacksonsymphony.org.
Random Acts of Music: Individuals and small groups play music in public spaces throughout the county. Nursing homes, hospitals, and other locations receive visits and impromptu concerts from JSO musicians.
