Dave Sharp Worlds Quartet Brings Global Jazz Fusion to Weatherwax Hall

Featured in JazzTimes’ 2010 Critic’s Poll, Dave Sharp Worlds Quartet brings a bold and immersive world jazz experience to Weatherwax Hall (215 W. Michigan Ave.) on January 31, 2026 at 8pm. Led by bassist, composer, and bandleader Dave Sharp, the quartet seamlessly weaves together rhythms, sounds, and textures from around the globe through original compositions inspired by world music traditions.
With a striking instrumentation that includes oud, violin, electric bass, synthesizer, and world percussion, the quartet thrives on the dynamic interplay of jazz improvisation and global influences. Drawing inspiration from musical traditions of Turkey, Egypt, Ukraine, India, Bulgaria, and Greece, the ensemble creates a rich and vibrant tapestry of sound that is both exploratory and deeply engaging.
“If the Midwestern winter has you feeling cooped up, come check out Dave Sharp Worlds Quartet!” said Colleen Monahan, Director of Business and Operations, “Their hot, grooving rhythms and indigenous instruments from the Middle East and North Africa will take you on a global journey!”
