JSO Kicks Off 76th Season with Star Wars and Holst’s The Planets
The Jackson Symphony Orchestra’s Classical Concert Series kicks off its 76th season with Star Wars & The Planets, a program that journeys through the cosmos with music inspired by the stars and beyond. The concert takes place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 7:30pm at the Potter Center (2111 Emmons Rd) and will feature a blend of stunning visual projections by designer Camilla Tassi and animated student artwork from the Jackson School of the Arts created in collaboration with TOPIA.
The evening opens with Jessie Montgomery’s Starburst, a radiant work full of energy and light. Fernande Decruck’s Hymne à Apollon follows, offering a lyrical nod to ancient mythology. The program continues with selections from John Williams’ Star Wars Suite and Gustav Holst’s The Planets, both featuring the choirs of Lakeview High School and Howell High School. From the thrill of galaxies far, far away to the mystery of the cosmos, the orchestra and choirs will unite in a breathtaking symphonic journey enhanced by an immersive layer of visual storytelling.
“This program invites us to look upward and outward, exploring music inspired by myth, fantasy, and the cosmos itself,” said Jackson Symphony Orchestra Music Director Matthew Aubin.
