JSO Season Finale Features Mozart’s Requiem

The Jackson Symphony Orchestra’s Classical Concert Series concludes the season with an evening of emotional and powerful music, highlighted by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem, one of the most dramatic and beloved works in classical music.

The concert takes place on Saturday, April 25, at 7:30pm at the Potter Center, (2111 Emmons Rd) and will feature a special side-by-side performance with the Jackson Youth Symphony Orchestra and Albion College Orchestra, bringing young musicians and professional performers together on stage.

The evening begins with Johannes Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture, filled with celebratory and bold sounds. Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto follows, full of beauty and heart, performed by 2022 Gilmore Young Artist winner Janice Carissa. After intermission, the concert concludes with Mozart’s powerful Requiem, featuring the combined voices of the Jackson Chorale, Hillsdale Arts Chorale, and Albion College Chorus.

Joining the orchestra and choruses for the performance are four outstanding vocalists: Elia Meekhoff, soprano; Meagan Wozny, mezzo-soprano; Michael Seare, tenor; and Andrew Potter, bass.

“This performance is made all the more special through collaboration. We are honored to share the stage with three outstanding choirs and their dedicated directors, alongside the musicians of the Jackson Youth Symphony Orchestra and Albion College Orchestra. These partnerships lie at the heart of the JSO’s mission,” said Jackson Symphony Orchestra Music Director Matthew Aubin.

Pre-Concert Conversation: Join us at 6:30pm before the concert for a special Pre-Concert Conversation, featuring Matthew Aubin and pianist Janice Carissa.
