Jackson Symphony Orchestra Presents West Side Story Featuring Clarinetist Guy Yehuda

The Jackson Symphony Orchestra invites audiences to experience a vibrant celebration of music on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 7:30pm at the Potter Center. Led by Music and Executive Director Matthew Aubin, the concert brings together classical, jazz, and Broadway traditions with works by Copland, Bernstein, and more.

The dynamic program features JSO principal clarinetist Guy Yehuda in three works that showcase the clarinet’s versatility: Aaron Copland’s lyrical Clarinet Concerto, Artie Shaw’s jazz-inspired Clarinet Concerto, and Leonard Bernstein’s energetic Prelude, Fugue and Riffs. The orchestra will also perform Reena Esmail’s Ram Tori Maya and William Dawson’s Break, Break, Break, with special appearances by the Vocal Dimension Northwest High School Choir.

The evening reaches its peak with Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, bringing the beloved Broadway musical to life on the orchestral stage. The grand finale features the uplifting Make Our Garden Grow from Candide, with guest vocalists Madelyn Rouse and Marcus Shelton, alongside the choir.

“From jazz and Broadway to classical and Indian musical traditions, this concert reminds us how wonderfully varied the American musical landscape can be,” said Music and Executive Director Matthew Aubin.
