The Jackson Symphony Orchestra’s non-classical concert series, Music on Tap presents “New Blues with Buffalo Nichols,” a captivating concert with a rising star reviving and redefining the iconic blues genre. As part of the Music on Tap series, this extraordinary evening will take place at Weatherwax Hall in Jackson, showcasing Buffalo Nichols’ talent for breathing new life into the blues while honoring its roots.

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 8:00 PM, all are invited to witness the blues revolution firsthand as Buffalo Nichols takes the stage at Weatherwax Hall. With his mastery of the guitar, songwriting prowess, and soulful vocals, Nichols has embarked on a musical journey to bridge the gap between the past and the future of the blues.

With influences drawn from his early experiences in a Baptist church and bars in Milwaukee, Nichols embarked on a globetrotting adventure that began to unravel the answer to his lifelong question: How can he bring the blues of the past into the future? His musical journey and talent have been praised by Rolling Stones and NPR’s All Songs Considered.

“Part of my intent, making myself more comfortable with this release, is putting more Black stories into the genres of folk and blues,” explains Carl “Buffalo” Nichols, the guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist at the forefront of this blues revival. His commitment to infusing the blues with diverse narratives and perspectives resonates deeply, creating a truly transformative experience for audiences.

This event will take place at Weatherwax Hall, offering a captivating and intimate setting for Nichols’ blues revival.
